I wouldn't use the word "knocked" in your introductory sentence. It's too informal a word for something like this. Perhaps "criticized" would be better?
yes, this is true I guess. When you read it, does it sound like it's about me or conservatory theatre?
A little of both, I guess. It's hard for me to really tell because so much of it deals with things with which I am not familiar. But even not understanding completely what you're talking about, you bring it around at the end about it applies to you personally.
By the way, I don't know if I mentioned it but I've been reassigned from the Intelligence Division to our training academy in Maryland. So I guess we're both now teachers of a sort. You teach production design and all things theatre and I teach recruits how to engage threats from a multi-vector attack while covering and evacuating a protectee.
At least I don't have to worry about tenure. ;-)
