Reason Magazine - Hit & Run > Biofuels are a Scam: The New Conventional Wisdom at Long Last: "One groundbreaking new study in Science concluded that when this deforestation effect is taken into account, corn ethanol and soy biodiesel produce about twice the emissions of gasoline. Sugarcane ethanol is much cleaner, and biofuels created from waste products that don't gobble up land have real potential, but even cellulosic ethanol increases overall emissions when its plant source is grown on good cropland."

Do you ever notice that none of these articles ever discuss the environmental impact of drilling for oil?
It's not like there's no impact when they drill for oil.
I just have to laugh when people constantly point out the shortfalls of alternative fuels and fail to mention the fact that what we're doing now is definitely NOT sustainable and offer no other alternative ideas.
Yeh, I am with you.
I think this is more about the "frying pan into the fire" possible nature of the biofuel solution.
Also, I think it's likely like cancer. Have you noticed that everything gives you cancer? I think if someone proposed that everyone walk they would find the increased exhalation due to exertion would promote global warming.
