Use the Airport Admin Utility to get into the AE. In the "Airport" section, select the "Base Station" Tab and enter the new password, verify, and update.
If the AE is locked and you don't know the admin password, you need to do a hard reset and reconfigure. So don't go there unless you know the settings, etc.
